Background
The Bukom community, along with its neighboring areas within Gamashie, has long relied on unsafe sea water, which is not suitable for human use.
Project Initiation
Relief and Aid International, established in May 2020, donated three mechanized boreholes equipped with reservoirs (Polytanks) to provide clean water to the residents of Bukom and its environs. This project combines manually operated and electricity-powered borehole systems to ensure a consistent water supply.
Implementation
The boreholes were officially commissioned with a ceremony where Peggy Anna Naa Ayikailey Adamafio, Founder and President of Relief and Aid International, assured the community that the NGO would cover the electricity costs for operating the boreholes for ten years. She also committed to replacing the water pump filters every six months to maintain water quality.
Community Impact
During the commissioning, Madam Peggy highlighted the organization's dedication to social and economic development. The personal assistant to the founder, Bertha Amanor, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the NGO’s vision of contributing to community welfare.
