Background
For years, the Miekpor community has relied on unsafe water sources, posing significant health risks to its inhabitants.
Project Initiation
The NGO successfully constructed and inaugurated a new borehole to supply the community with potable water, replacing the unsafe water sources previously used.
Implementation
Relief and Aid International, an NGO founded by Madam Peggy Anna Naa Ayikailey Adamafio, embarked on a mission to provide safe water to the Miekpor community. This project was generously funded by Deeann Dawn Jones, an American health practitioner and foundation member.
Community Impact
During the launch ceremony, Lady Justice Julia Naa Yarley Adjei-Amoah emphasized the transformative impact of access to clean water on the lives of Miekpor's residents. She thanked the project sponsors and urged the community to maintain the borehole for its long-term benefit. Former Accra Mayor, Prof. Ishmael Ashitey, highlighted the fundamental right of every community to have access to potable water and encouraged the residents to hold their leaders accountable for such necessities. He, along with other speakers, stressed the importance of proper maintenance to ensure the longevity of the infrastructure.
